PROJECT
MGM Container Crane Relocation
DP World
Industrial Transportation
OVERVIEW
Project Features
Our team was tasked to disassemble and transport two 1,200 tonne MGM container cranes from Centerm Terminals in Vancouver to Nanaimo.
The work included:
• Partial disassembly of the cranes using a 700-tonne floating barge crane as removal of the booms, backstays and A-frame was required to allow the cranes to fit under the Lion’s Gate Bridge.
• Lifting and sliding the cranes onto a barge using our Skid-Shoe system. Given the weight of the cranes, the process took 5 hours and involved full-time ballasting to keep the barge perfectly level.
